LASEMA emerges ‘Most Active Agency in Lagos State’

… receives commendation for its professionalism

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has emerged as the ‘Most Active Agency’ in Lagos State.

This was announced at the 2022 edition of its annual award “CityPeople Award for Excellence” which was held at Etal Hotel and Hall, plot 38 Kudirat Abiola Road, Oregun Ikeja at the weekend.

The award for Excellence was organized by City People Media Group to honour outstanding personalities and Agencies of Government with top performance.

LASEMA, as an Agency saddled with the responsibility of managing emergencies and disasters, by employing the world’s best practices has set the standard for professionalism in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

This award is a testament to the expertise it employs in safeguarding the lives and properties of Lagosians in a round-the-clock service to humanity.

In addition to the award for Excellence, the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has commended the Agency for its commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of residents in Lagos State.

In a Letter of Appreciation delivered to the Permanent Secretary at the Command-and-Control Centre at Alausa, Ikeja, by a delegation from its national office, the Council expressed its profound gratitude for the Agency’s swift, prompt, effective and efficient response to the unfortunate fire incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 26th October 2022, at the Council’s national office in Yaba area of Lagos State.

The delegation, led by Mr Patrick E.Areghan who is the Head of the Council’s national office, thanked LASEMA for the courage and professionalism exhibited by its Response Unit thereby saving the lives of some of the Council’s staff who were trapped in the building by the fire.

Mr Areghan, who expressed gratitude to God that no lives were lost to the fire, commended the courage of the LASEMA Response Unit in saving lives and ensuring that documents and records of immeasurable value, in addition to physical assets, were also saved from destruction.

In his response, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu thanked the Council’s delegation for its kind words and appreciation of the Agency’s efforts.

He reaffirmed LASEMA’s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties in the State as stated in its ministerial mandate. He reiterated that the safety of the lives and properties of Lagosians is paramount to the administration of Mr Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and concluded by calling on the delegates to always call the emergency toll-free number 122/767 in case of any emergency.
