Labour Party names Senator Baba-Ahmed as Obi’s running mate

The Labour Party’s presidential flagbearer, Mr  Peter Obi has announced Dr Yusuf Datti Ahmed as his running mate.

Doyin Okupe who was a placeholder, withdrew from the race earlier on Thursday, 7 July 2022 to clear the way for the announcement of Sen. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as Peter Obi’s running mate.

The Vice-Presidential candidate expressed his happiness in a message on his social media handle, he said “I am honoured to have been picked by Mr Peter Obi as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election through the Labour Party platform.

I am assuring Nigerians that we will form a formidable force that will bring about good governance, accountability and transparency”.

Sen. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is an Academician, Businessman and Nigerian politician.

He is a 48-year-old man and was a Senator. He is the founder of Baze University, Abuja and Baba Ahmed University, Kano. He holds a PHD and was one of the reps members that stopped Obasanjo’s third term agenda.

He was a member of the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007 and was elected Senator for Kaduna North, in Kaduna State, Nigeria in April 2011.

Dr Yusuf Ahmad Datti has BSc in Economics (UniMaid); MSc in Economics (UniMaid); MBA from the University of Wales, Cardiff, and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Winchester, England.

Datti hails from Zaria, Kaduna State.
