Moving on in 1997, he worked with Mark Pellington in the camera and electrical department where he was privilege to direct a comedy drama film titled ‘Going All the Way.’ He also worked as the head electrician on the sets of ‘Riding with James Dean’ in 1998.

After working on other popular films, such as ‘Clockstoppers,’ ‘Pumpkin,’ and ‘Outside Ozona,’ Kurt received his big breakthrough in 2003, when he was roped in to work as an electrician for the fantasy action film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.’

In the same year, 2003, he made his debut as a cinematographer for the movie ‘Ghosts of Genius.’ He also made his debut as a producer as he bankrolled a fantasy horror film in 1998 titled ‘Puppet Master: The Legacy.’
