Kidnapped oil workers regain freedom

The eight employees of MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, who were kidnapped last week in Lagos have regained freedom.

It was learnt that the victims were released on Sunday night in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.

It was however unclear if the ransom was paid for their freedom.

The oil workers were kidnapped around 6 pm on Monday while on a private boat from Lagos Island to Lekki.

Kidnappers were said to have whisked them into their boat, leaving behind the oil workers’ boat with their personal belongings.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the release of the oil workers to The Nation on Monday morning.

Asked if any arrest was made, Hundeyin answered in the negative, declining further comments on the issue. Details shortly…
