I’ve fought for A’Ibom progress, I deserve to be governor – Ita Enang

The Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang has said he has fought for the progress of Akwa Ibom State and deserves to be governor.

Speaking on Monday in Uyo with journalists on his intention to become a governor of the state, Enang added that he has been the conscience and brains behind many of the developments in the state.

Enang who stated that he would build on the antecedents of former governors like Obong Victor Attah and Godswill Akpabio, noted that he would prioritize human capital development, declare an emergency of youths development and improve the people of the state.

“I am contesting the election on my record. No other person has my record.

I have been the conscience and brain of this state since 1998.

“I have fought the fight. I have led in struggles; I am not cowardly in any matter. I have in the history of my life been fighting for people. I have courage in extra dose.

“I will ensure that the cardinal programme of my administration will be improving on the human condition by ensuring that there is enough human resource that I build to help me translate into infrastructure

“If anyone comes to seek your mandate, please let him tell you what he has done, his pedigree before coming to seek another office.

“Today, I stand as the only Nigerian, who has gone from the lowest rung of the legislature to the highest.

“I am Senator Ita Enang and I’ve surrendered myself to be the Governor of Akwa Ibom State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) party. I can assure you of effective governance.

“I am pledging not what I have, but what I am. We are coming to redeem Akwa Ibom State and bring back its lost glory,” he stated.

Enang revealed that he was Instrumental to the legalisation of the University of Uyo, the establishment of the Federal University, Ikot Abasi and Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, and was part of the team that fought for resource control and the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

He explained that he has attracted N180 billion for the Calabar- Itu road project, noting that President Muhammadu Bahari will commission the road before leaving office in May 2023.

He further said his experience and achievements as a councillor and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, make him the best qualified to be the governor of Akwa Ibom under the platform of APC.
