Akwa United’s two goals hero, Ndifreke Effiong has expressed his desire to score as many goals as possible that will help his team to achieve her aspirations in the 2020/2021 NPFL season.

Ndifreke, who finished as NPFL second leading scorer and his team’s top scorer last season with 11 goals, scored a brace against his former club, Abia Warriors, on Saturday.

The striker in an exclusive interview with the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.com, revealed that his target is to be more prolific in front of goal this season.

“It was really a special day for me to open my team’s goal account for the new season because we didn’t score in our opening two games. I am grateful that my goals were enough to guarantee us maximum points.

“I have no regret scoring against my former team. We needed to get our season on track after dropping five points in two successive games.

“It was the first time I scored against Abia Warriors since l left them to join Akwa United. As a professional, my job is to score goals and I am working hard to ensure I score more goals that will be enough for us to achieve our aim at the end of the season.

“I wish to dedicate my goals to the club chairman, Elder Paul Bassey, my coach Kennedy Boboye, my teammates and fans for their prayers and support. By the grace of God, I will continue to do my best to score for this great club,” Ndifreke prayed.

The Rio 2016 Olympic Bronze medallist assured fans and supporters of Akwa United that they will continue to fight for every available points.
