GOC urges officers, soldiers on giving nation their best

The General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede has tasked officers and soldiers of the 2 Brigade Nigerian Army to give their best in the discharge of their duties to the nation.
Oluyede gave the task during the inauguration of projects at the Mbiokporo Cantonment, headquarters of the 2 Brigade Nigerian Army in Mbiokporo near Uyo on Thursday.
The GOC, who inaugurated the projects commended the Commander 2 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Abubakar Wase, for ensuring the completion of the projects, adding that it would add value and improve the welfare of the soldiers.
“I want to enjoin you all to continue to give your best to the discharge of your duties. It is therefore my fervent hope that this project inaugurated today will proffer enduring solutions towards adding impetus and ensuring continuity in the rejuvenated Nigerian Army transformation process,” Oluyede said.
Oluyede said that the commander has made judicious use of resources allocated to the brigade by constructing those projects inaugurated within one year.
“I am delighted to be on this memorable occasion, you know it is always good for those in positions of authority to add value to their constituency.
“When we came here last year, there was only one building in this place but Wase has done well. Some, if you give them the money, will pocket it. Is always good, we celebrate those who have done well, so, Wase well done.
“You have shown good enthusiasm to a given task and the result is what we have witnessed today I also want to use this opportunity to commend officers and soldiers of 2 Brigade for their support and the good working relationship it has led to the completion of these projects in my tenure as the GOC,” he said.
The GOC commended the Chief of Army Staff, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, and President Muhammadu Buhari for the transformation given to the army over the years.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Wase said the transformational efforts by the Brigade and the Nigerian Army, would greatly enhance the welfare and operational capabilities of the troops of 2 Brigade.
Wase said the projects executed and completed for the inauguration were the Remodelled Quarter Guard, Military Police Duty Room, the Regimental Sergeant Majors’ Office as well as the Brigade Sick Bay.
He commended the warm hospitality of their host community and the good people of Akwa Ibom for the cordial relationship that exists between the State and the Army at large.
Our correspondent reports that the high point of the event was the planting of trees by the GOC and all heads of security agencies.
