Former commissioner dies in a Lagos hospital at 66

Chief Jide Adebayo, former Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Kwara State (1999), has passed away. PM News reported that Adebayo died at a Lagos hospital on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the age of 66 after a short illness.

According to a report by Major-Gen. Lasisi Abidoye, a close friend of Adebayo, confirmed this in a statement on Friday morning, November 5, in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of ​​Kwara State.

Adebayo, until his death, was the Eesa of Omu-Aran, the second against the chiefs of the nation.

However, according to a report, the deceased also held the post of Director General of Commerce, formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Lagos, and former Acting Chairman of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Abidoye, meanwhile, described the late Adebayo as “a good journalist and a great leader, who will be greatly missed.” He added: “Chief Eesa is a peace activist and a non-partisan leader. He was a standard of good leader, honest and God-fearing. He is survived by his wife, Alice Ifedun (nee Adeleye), and is blessed with children and grandchildren.
