Five feared dead as hoodlums attack Ibadan police station

Tunde Olufemi, Ibadan

Five persons are feared killed in the Ojoo area of Ibadan on Tuesday as the #EndSARS protest resulted in bloody confrontation.

It was learnt that police opened fire on the youths when they attacked the police station in the area.

Shops and offices along the UI-Ojoo road were said to have been hurriedly shut and commuters trekked from Ojoo towards University of Ibadan area and beyond.

Tension started brewing in the area in the morning when some youths mounted roadblock right in front of the police station at Ojoo and started mocking the police.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, did not answer the repeated calls placed to his telephone by our correspondent.

He had yet to reply to the text message sent to him as at the time of filing this report.

However, when contacted the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa, said the governor had yet to impose curfew on the state.

He said he learnt of the attack on the police station but could not say if lives were lost or not.
