Ex-A’Ibom governorship aspirant canvasses support for Akpabio Senate Presidency
Akpan Umoh, Uyo
Mr James Iniama, a former gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu and senators-elect to think Nigeria above all considerations and address equity and fairness in the distribution of principal offices at the national level.
Iniama said this during a media interaction in Uyo on Saturday.
He called for the Senate Presidency to be zoned to the South-South geo-political zone of the country and for Sen. Godswill Akpabio as the Senate President to ensure equity, fairness and justice.
Iniama said that Akpabio as the senate president would unify and reposition the legislature – Executive relationship for the development of the nation.
“It is reassuring of the unity and indivisibility of our great nation to have a patriot such as Sen. Godswill Akpabio, a Christian and a Nigerian of the South-South geo-political zone, sit as the President of our Senate,” he said.
The PDP chieftain appealed to senators-elect and the political class of the six geo-political zones to collaborate in a bi-partisan manner to rally support for Akpabio as Senate President.
He commended President Tinubu for hitting the ground running in the matter of oil subsidy removal and assent to the Electricity and Power Sector Reform Act within just 10 days in office.
Iniama wishes that the Fuel Subsidy Removal Committee, headed by the Vice President would give a deep thought on the possibility of proposing concessions to the air transport sector, adding that this will make air travel affordable considering the high level of insecurity on our highways.
