A socio-economic group in Enugu State, Enugu Young Professionals has made a case for the election of a former environment commissioner Barr Chijioke Edeoga as the PDP guber candidate in Enugu State to sustain the prevailing peace and harmony in the state.

The group has also said that an Edeoga’s candidacy would foster unity and address the lopsidedness in the distribution of political office in Enugu East Senatorial District which has been skewed against the people of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area.

Addressing journalists in Enugu yesterday, the National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Nnaemeka Ogenyi stated that Edeoga has over the years demonstrated capacity, experience and humility while in service to the nation and state.

Ogenyi maintained that the former National Assembly Member, commissioner and Presidential Aide has remained a committed team player and contributed immensely to the current superlative performance of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

“Hon Chijioke Edeoga is a consummate administrator who served a former President as an SA on National Assembly Matters and Presidential Liason Officer (Senate). Gentlemen an aide given such a task must be a person of trust and good conduct.

Edeoga did that for several years and there was no bad report or story about him.

“He also served as the official spokesperson of the House of Representatives and gentlemen anyone that the House of Representatives will trust to represent and speak for them must also be one with capacity, sagacity, experience, flair, exposure and sophistication to do so and Edeoga possesses all those qualities.

“Edeoga also served His Excellency, Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi right from the beginning in various capacities and I bet you is one of the commissioners His Excellency can vouch for their capacity, loyalty and humility.” The coordinator said.

Ogenyi who described Governor Ugwuanyi as a peacemaker and bridge-builder appealed to him to be fair, meticulous and firm in the choice of his successor and expressed hope that the Governor would not disappoint the people of Isi-Uzo.

“Our Governor has demonstrated that he is a man of peace, a bridge builder and one who believes in equity and fairness in the distribution of infrastructural projects and we believe he will do the same in the choice of his successor.

“Isi-Uzo has been marginalized over the years politically and even in infrastructure and people of good conscience have backed the Governor to pick his successor from Isi-Uzo and for we in EYP, Edeoga has the experience, capacity and the backing of the people of the area to continue in the good works of Ugwuanyi.

“We must also commend the Governor for the peaceful and mature way he has been handling political issues in the state. Good leaders don’t talk much but act. This we have seen in Ugwuanyi and we are proud of him.” Ogenyi concluded.
