Eno picks 27 persons as commissioners, special advisers designate

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Dr Umo Eno has picked 27 persons as Commissioners and Special Advisers designate to form his cabinet.

Three females are among the list which comprised over 80 percent of the old cabinet members the governor sacked about a month ago.

Eno sent the list to the Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for confirmation in a letter dated February 10, 2025.

According to the letter, Eno urged the consideration and prompt action of the House of Assembly for the clearance of the appointees.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, I warmly greet the Leadership and the Honourable members of the 8th Assembly for the wonderful spirit of cooperation we have received from you since we came in.

“In line with Section 192 (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), I forward the under-listed names of nominees for appointment to the Office of the Commissioners and Special Advisers for confirmation by the State House of Assembly,” the letter stated.

Among the list are the former Commissioner of Information,  Mr Ini Ememobong, Prof Eno Ibanga,  Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, and Dr Nsikan Nkan, Commissioner for Finance, among others.
