#EndSARS protest: Police arrest inmate who escaped from Edo Prison

The operatives of Ogun State Police have arrested a prison inmate, one Obehi Ehis Frank Ogbeh, who had been at large on Tuesday.

It was gathered that Ogbeh escaped from the White House Prison, Edo State during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who said this on Wednesday, explained that the prison inmate was arrested following the information received by policemen at Agbado Divisional Headquarters, that a middle-aged man was seen around Angulis area of Agbado, and that his look and conduct were suspicious.

“Acting on the information, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga, detailed detectives to the area, where the man was apprehended,” Oyeyemi stated.

The PPRO noted that when interrogated, Ogbeh confessed to being an escapee from the White House Prison in Edo State.

He also confessed that he was set free by hoodlums who attacked the prison yard during the #EndSARS protests.

He further confessed that he relocated to Agbado area, to avoid re-arrest. Oyeyemi stated further that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward A. Ajogun had directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, for further profiling.
