Emmanuel urges newly sworn-in commissioners to add value to administration

Ini Billie, Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has advised his newly sworn-in commissioners to add value to the administration for it to land well and safely.

Six Commissioners in the State Executive Council had withdrawn from their positions to pursue their political ambition, leading Governor Emmanuel to forward new nominees to the State House of Assembly who has been screened and cleared.

Speaking on Friday in Uyo after administering an oath of office to the new commissioners, the governor said the six joined his team at the moment his administration has much to deliver to the people of Akwa Ibom.

He charged the new state executives to imitate the disciples of Jesus by putting the interest of Akwa Ibom people ahead of personal interests.

“This is another call to duty. From your CV, it is obvious that you are combat ready. Give preference to Akwa Ibom people. do not place your personal interest above the interest of the people.  You are coming at a time we have much to deliver. Bring your very best to make sure we land well and safely,” he said.

The governor urged political aspirants to remain peaceful during the electioneering campaigns, adding that rendering service to the people should not be approached with violence.

He noted that the ambition of an individual is not worth the peace of over 700 million Akwa Ibom people.

“Let us play politics with understanding and fear of God. Whoever is opting to serve would never do so through violence, bloodshed and fetish oath.

“We have total zero tolerance for violence. Trying to pull another man down does not qualify you. we can do it cleaner and more peaceful than ever before. Let us know that the ambition of one man is nothing compared to the peace of over 700 million Akwa Ibom people,” he stated.

The six new commissioners are Dr Bassey B. Okon from Itu local government area, Offiong S. Offoh from Ini LGA, Enefiok Isaac from Ikot Ekpene, Iniobong Ekong from Nsit Ubium, Bob Emem from Onna and Camillus Essien Umoh from Essien Udim local government areas.
