Ini Billie, Uyo
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has announced that he will reshuffle his cabinet.
Emmanuel said this on Thursday in Uyo during the State Executive Council meeting, saying five commissioners will be replaced.
A statement signed by the Commissioner of Information, Mr Ini Emembong, noted that the names of the new commissioners have been forwarded to the House of Assembly for screening and clearance.
“The Chairman-in-Council announced that the Executive Council will be reshuffled and that five Commissioners will be eased out. Consequently, names have been forwarded to the House of Assembly for screening and clearance,” he said.
Before the announcement, two commissioners had already resigned their position for political reasons, while one of the affected commissioners is Gov. Emmanuel’s anointed successor, Pastor Umo Eno.
Findings revealed that the five commissioners to be replaced include Dr Glory Edet (Agriculture), Barr Prince Akpabio (Trade and Investment), Mr Okpulupm Etteh (Special Duties and Aviation), Prof Enoh Ibanga (Works) and Mr Umoh Eno (Lands and Water Resources).
On the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Union of Teachers, the governor directed the relevant ministries to take necessary steps to solve the problem immediately.
It was learnt that a meeting with the leadership of the NUT is ongoing to resolve the impasse.
