Eid-El-Fitri: Police deploy 1,527 personnel around worship centres

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Waheed Ayilara said 1,527 personnel have been deployed around worship centres in the state.
Ayilara, who urged Muslims to remain steadfast in the pursuit of peace and be more involved in acts of charity and kindness, informed that violent criminals would be arrested and prosecuted.
Speaking on Tuesday in Uyo to felicitate with the Muslim faithful during Eid-El-Fitri, the CP stated in a press statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Odiko Macdon, that killers of Sylvanus Ukpong at Ifa Atai in a failed kidnap attempt would soon be arrested.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered tightened security around mosques, prayer grounds, worship Centres and other parts of the State during and after the Salah celebrations by deploying a total of thousand, five hundred and twenty-seven officers and men.
“The CP has condemned the killing and vowed to arrest, in the shortest possible time, the killers of one Sylvanus Ukpong who was murdered at Ifa Atai in a failed attempt to abduct him.
“While reiterating his commitment to providing security for Residents of Akwa Ibom State, the CP said perpetrators of violent crimes in the state will be arrested and held accountable,” he stated.
