EFCC NYSC CDS group embarks on Anti-Corruption sensitization to Benue Motor Parks

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Makurdi Zonal Command in collaboration with members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC/CDS Group, Makurdi, Benue State on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, embarked on an enlightenment and sensitization campaign on the ills of corruption and other forms of criminality to Motor parks in Benue State.

Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said the sensitization train stopped over at the Benue Links Motor parks, Pleasure Park, New Nyanyanya Park, Duke Park, Ihotu Park and Flight Park, all in Benue State.

Superintendent of the EFFCC Adeniran Adebayo, Head Public Affairs Department, Makurdi Zonal Command, said the enlightenment campaign was to engender public ownership of the fight against corruption. He urged the management of the Motor Parks and drivers to shun corruption. “The essence of the campaign is to charge the public to take ownership of the fight against corruption, join us in fighting corruption,” he said.

The Corps members amidst singing and drumming sensitised the drivers and their passengers on the ills of corruption and its consequences on the larger society in English and their local languages- Tiv, Idoma, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and pidgin.

They also carried placards condemning corrupt practices in English Language. Some of the messages include: “Anti-Corruption, See Something, Say Something, Do Something; Transparency is Key To Fight Corruption; Don’t Defraud Anyone; Don’t Collect Bribe”; “Remove Your Hands From Fraudulent Activities,” among others.

Anthony C. Anisiebo, President of the NYSC/EFCC CDS Anti-Corruption group said the campaign gave them the platform to draw public attention to the evils of corruption. Said he was delighted with the collaboration. “It was an opportunity to contribute my quota in the fight against corruption by sensitizing people at the grassroots.” Mr. Raphael Ejembi, Safety officer, Benue Links Park, commended the Commission and NYSC members for the sensitization.

“This is the first time EFCC will bring something like this to our park. We really appreciate it as it afforded us the opportunity to ask questions that have been on our mind and we are better informed about the activities of the Commission,” he said.
