CP confirms release of IYC president

The President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Peter Igbifa has been released by his abductors.
It was gathered that Igbifa was released on 26 May 2021, at Kaima, Kolokuma/Opukuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa.
It will be recalled that the IYC president was kidnapped on 25 May 2021, on his way to Port Harcourt Airport by suspected kidnappers.
The statement added: “Due to sustained pressure mounted by the police, the IYC president was released at a Bush at Kaima, from where he contacted the police and was eventually rescued.”
The statement was contained in a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, SP Asinim Butswat, on Thursday.
He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, Mike Okoli, has debriefed the kidnapped victim, adding that investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
