Corps members donate safety signage to A'Ibom FRSC

Corps members serving in Akwa Ibom State have donated safety signage to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Akwa Ibom Command.

The donation, made in Uyo on Thursday, is part of the Community Development Service (CDS) of the corps members and aims to promote safe driving habits and reduce the incidence of road accidents in the state.

Speaking during the donation, the Vice President of the FRSC CDS group, Miss Grace Ifelola, stated that the safety signage serves as a reminder to motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, thereby reducing road crashes.

“We, the NYSC members serving with FRSC, understand the importance of safety on the road. This project is to protect road users, particularly motorists, on what is expected of them when they drive along the road.

Ifelola urged intending corps members who will come after them to equally think of life-saving projects that would contribute to the development of their host community during their service year.

In his remarks, the Sector Commander, Mr Francis Ajatta, appreciated the gesture, noting that the donation would go a long way in enhancing their efforts to reduce road crashes and promote safety on the roads.

“The project delivered to us by the corps members is very important because it has to do with public enlightenment, and the inscription on the signpost is to caution motorists and bring to their consciousness that speed kills.

“So, when motorists have it in their heart while driving on the highway, they will definitely checkmate their speed.

“The project is a legacy that the corps members have installed because they have been able to take out a little they have to execute the project,” Ajatta said.

Ajatta said that road safety is a collective responsibility, and urged other Nigerians to partner with the agency in delivering similar projects that will enhance a safe motoring environment.
