BREAKING: Court clears Obaseki of certificate forgery

A Federal High Court sitting Abuja, on Saturday, dismissed the certificate forgery suit the All Progressives Congress, APC, and one of its members, Mr. Williams Edobor, brought the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.
The presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, who delivered the judgement, held that he who makes allegation must prove, the burden of prove is on the plaintiffs to produce credible evidence that the defendant submitted false documents in his form EC9 and 001.
According to Mohammed there was no iota of evidence before the court to establish that Obaseki forged either his O’level certificate or the degree certificate that was awarded to him in 1979 by the University of Ibadan.
The judge added that none of the plaintiff’s witnesses were able to prove the certificates were forged.
Mohammed noted that none of the witnesses went to the university to verify the certificate, rather, the plaintiffs relied on the photocopy attached to his form.
