The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Baba Mohammed Azare, has convened the command’s first management and strategic meeting for 2026, attended by senior officers, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and tactical commanders.

Addressing the gathering, Azare commended the officers and men of the command for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to maintaining relative peace and security across the state over the past year.

DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Command, acknowledged police sacrifices in ensuring a crime-free festive period and urged them to build on the successes already recorded.

The commissioner, however, issued a stern warning against all forms of indiscipline, misconduct and unprofessional conduct, stressing that the command’s leadership would not tolerate any action capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force.

He assured that appropriate sanctions would be meted out to any officer found wanting.

Reiterating the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Azare emphasised the strict enforcement of the withdrawal of police officers from escort duties for Very Important Personalities (VIPs) not entitled to such protection.

He explained that the directive is aimed at ensuring optimal deployment of personnel for core policing responsibilities that benefit the general public.

He also restated the Akwa Ibom State Government’s Executive Order on masquerade operations, directing all Area Commanders, DPOs and tactical team leaders to ensure full compliance in the interest of public order. He warned that any violation of the directive would attract the full weight of the law.

Azare further charged officers to maintain neatness in appearance, civility and a courteous disposition in their interactions with members of the public, reminding them that they are servants of the people and must uphold the ethics and standards of a modern, people-friendly police force.

The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all residents of Akwa Ibom State.
