Armed robbers attack Bayelsa community, kill two

Two persons, a man and a woman, have lost their lives as suspected armed robbers attacked Amarata community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The suspects were said to have raided a residential building opposite Opili Plaza, Amarata on Wednesday and shot a man, identified as Centre Silas.
The name of the woman, who was also said to have been killed by the suspects is yet to be known.
The incident reportedly caused fest and apprehension in Amarata, an area considered a hot spot for different criminal activities in the state capital.
The spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command Asinim Butswat confirmed the incident.
He, however, said the police were unaware of the identity and fate of the woman allegedly killed.
Butswat, a Superintendent of Police, said: “On 7th September 2022, at about 0100 hours, armed robbers broke into a residential building at opposite Opili Plaza, Amarata, shot at one Center Silas, male, with a locally made pistol.
“The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, for treatment where he eventually died.”
He said police officers had visited the scene and the investigation was ongoing.
