Armed robbers attack Aso Rock, raid residence of Buhari’s Chief of Staff
A gang of armed robbers have reportedly attacked the homes of Agboola Gambari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari and an Administration Officer, Abubakar Maikano, in the premises of the Presidential Villa, Aso-Rock, Abuja.
Peoples Gazette reported that the incident occurred on Sunday night, with the Presidency keeping mum on such a high-profile case of insecurity.
A security source from within Aso Rock revealed that armed robbers ransacked the houses of the presidential staff, carting away money and other valuable assets from the villa.
“The robbers took away as much as possible from both places. What is more unfortunate is that no one has been arrested,” the source said.
Such a report could spell doom for the Nigerian elite, who have remained largely unaffected by the absurd level of insecurity in the country.
The news of the robbery has also come as a shock to many Nigerians, who are still puzzled as to how one of the most secure places in the nation, with premises swarming with State Security Service officers, has managed to be compromised by bandits.
