The Akwa Ibom State government has assured the public that there is no cause for panic regarding the accident which happened at Execujet.
The state government added that adequate industry safeguards have been activated in agreement with global best practices in the aviation sector.
It was reported recently that there was an accident at Execujet, a private jet hangar and apron in Lagos, where a Global Express aircraft hit the state’s parked aircraft, damaging its nose cone and radar.
According to a press statement by the state government, entitled: ‘State Aircraft: Accident and Related Matters’ and signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, said Global Express jet hit the Ibom aeroplane from where it was parked.
The statement read: “The accident happened while our jet was parked at its allotted parking point and the Global Express jet was taxiing to its parking point.
“The pilot and the management of the offending aircraft have earnestly accepted responsibility.
“Consequently, the aviation industry being a highly regulated sector that runs on insurance, the insurers have underwritten the risk and the state plane will be back in use soon.”
