A’Ibom Police partner PWA Nigeria for officers’ training

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has partnered with the Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative, also known as Partners West Africa Nigeria (PWA-Nigeria), to organise a capacity-building workshop for senior officers of the command.
The two-day training programme is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, and Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Police Headquarters in Uyo. The workshop is designed to enhance the professional competence, operational efficiency and leadership capacity of senior police officers.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Baba Mohammed Azare, stressed the importance of continuous learning and adaptation to modern policing standards.
He said the collaboration with Partners West Africa Nigeria reflects the command’s commitment to strengthening officers’ skills through advanced training to promote effective policing, uphold human rights and improve police-community relations in line with global best practices.
According to him, the workshop will equip participants with knowledge in critical and emerging areas of contemporary law enforcement, including advanced investigative techniques, human rights-based policing, cybercrime awareness and community-oriented policing strategies.
Partners West Africa Nigeria is a reputable non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting the rule of law, security sector reform and good governance across Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
The initiative underscores the Akwa Ibom State Police Command’s proactive approach to personnel development and its commitment to building a more secure, just and law-abiding society through a professional and empowered police force.
