A’Ibom police arrest 22 suspected killer of Inspector Egbe

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it has arrested 22 suspects for the murder of Inspector Usang Egbe, and for cultism.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon said in a press release on Saturday in Uyo that the arrest was made between January 31 and February 2, 2024, adding that the command would not relent in its fight against criminals.

Inspector Usang was allegedly beheaded by over 10 hoodlums on Wednesday night in Uyo at his house around Enen Afaha and Afaha Ube, an Uyo suburb.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested 22 Suspects in connection with the Murder of one Inspr Usang Egbe and for cult-related activities in the state.

“The arrests were made between the 31st of January and 2nd of February 2024. For the avoidance of doubt,

the Command will intensify its onslaught against criminal elements in the State and wishes to inform Akwa Ibomites that perpetrators of heinous crimes will be brought to book,” he stated.

Macdon revealed that other murder suspects like BARRACKS, a serial murderer from Mbiaso village in Oruk Anam LGA, who masterminded the Inen clan cult war have also been arrested.

“On 30/01/24, at about 2330hrs, relying on credible intelligence, the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command arrested one Emem Ime Friday, alias BARRACKS, a serial murderer from Mbiaso village in Oruk Anam LGA who masterminded the Inen Clan Cult War.

“In 2022, he orchestrated the gruesome murder of Inen Clan Youth President, one Hezekiah Adaidem, beheaded him and severed his manhood and then fled to Rivers State. While in 2020, he allegedly murdered Ufot Unwana on August 8th,

Udeme Unwucha and Okon Ubok Udom on 16th September. Other victims on 24th November were Ntiedo Sambo, Eferemfon James and Gilbert Akpan.

“Also, On 22/1/2024 at about 5:15 pm, following actionable intelligence, Operatives of Ika Division arrested one Emmanuel Francis Daniel ‘m’ aged 33yrs of Otomo village in Ika L.G.A., for killing one Emmanuel Jimmy Udoh ‘m’ aged about 58years of Nket Abak village in Ukanafun L.G.A., the pastor of Jesus Power Ministry in Ikot Esu village in Ika L.G.A of Akwa Ibom State.

The suspect together with others now at large, shot the pastor to death in the church. Efforts are on to arrest other fleeing suspects. “On 23/1/2024, one Happiness Isaiah Ekanem ‘f’ and 3 others of Ikono L.G.A., who conspired and killed one Imo Isaiah Ekanem ‘m’ aged 32 years of same address by beating him to death and secretly buried the corpse have been arrested and investigation ongoing,” he stated.
