After supposed freedom from army custody, actor Chinwetalu Agu arrested by DSS

Veteran Nollywood Actor, Chinwetalu Agu has been reportedly arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS.

Nigerian writer, Chiagozie Fred Nwonwu, who writes under the pen name Mazi Nwonwu, claimed that the veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu is still not a free man.

Nwonwu said Agu is presently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

“Chiwetalu Agu is still not free.

“He is with DSS now. Colleagues say they are looking for a top lawyer to bail him,” Nwonwu wrote on his known Facebook page on Friday.

Early Friday there was widespread jubilation over the actor’s release by the Nigerian Army following his arrest on Thursday for putting on an outfit thought to be the Biafra flag.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, DSP Ikenganyia Anthony, said he was not aware of Agu’s arrest by the DSS.

He said: “I don’t have such information.”

Similarly, the National Secretary of the Actor Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu, said they did not have any information about the actor’s arrest by the DSS.

“We don’t have that information now. W cannot confirm it. The Guild cannot make a statement now….,” he said.
