Nnamdi Kanu’s British Passport allegely found In African country

The British passport of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been found in Kenya, The Guardian has reported.

Abubakar Malami, the Minister for Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, announced Kanu’s arrest on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

He said Nnamdi Kanu was apprehended and extradited to Nigeria, though the minister refused 6to give details of the arrest.

Kanu’s family and his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, accused the Federal Government of abducting the IPOB leader from Kenya.

Ejiofor said Kanu was arrested by Kenyan police, detained for eight days before he was handed over to the Nigerian government.

The Kenyan government had refuted the claim that Kanu was arrested by the Nigerian government in Kenya.

However, the Guardian said a British outlet indicated that Mr. Kanu’s UK passport remains in Kenya.

Kanu, according to the newspaper, entered Kenya with a British passport and a visa that expired in June.

The brother of the embattled IPOB leader, Kingsley Kanu, also confirmed that his brother was in Kenya. He claimed to have spoken with him days before he was arrested by the police.

Kingsley noted that the British High Commission has reached out to Kanu’s legal team for consular support, adding that the discovery of his British passport in Kenya confirmed that he was apprehended and extradited from the East African country.

Kanu has been charged with an 11-count charge of treason, treasonable felony, terrorism and illegal possession of firearms, among others. (Peoples Gazette)
