Cross River Police arrest 16-year-old over fatal stabbing
The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy over the alleged stabbing death of a 20-year-old man, Uwem Daniel Akpan, in Awi community, Akamkpa Local Government Area.
The incident occurred at about 7:30 pm on Monday, August 31, following a reported misunderstanding at Peters Street, Awi.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, said the victim was taken to the Naval Reference Hospital in Calabar, where he was pronounced dead.
Eitokpah said the suspect had been taken into custody as police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
According to him, Akpan’s remains were later recovered by members of his family.
The police said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation and appropriate legal action. The command urged residents to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, assuring them that the circumstances surrounding the incident would be thoroughly investigated.
