Osimhen eyes university degree after retirement

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that he hopes to return to school and earn a university degree after retiring from professional football, describing education as an important personal goal.

Speaking in an interview with Instablog TV that has been widely shared on social media, the Galatasaray forward reflected on the value of education and the life lessons he has learned since leaving school.

“As an adult, not everything I learned came from school. There are some life lessons you encounter through life’s journey,” Osimhen said.

The 27-year-old noted that a football career is relatively short, making it essential for players to prepare for life after retirement.

“For me, it would be an amazing thing also to try to get a degree, which I’m still considering because you don’t play football forever. You probably play for 20 or 25 years, and then you’re done,” he said.

Osimhen said that although he has other opportunities to rely on after his playing career, obtaining a university degree would represent a significant personal achievement and an opportunity to inspire younger people.

“Since I have a lot of things to fall back on when I’m done, I think it’s still important for me to set an example and a standard for the younger generation,” he said.

The striker also encouraged young people who had been forced to suspend their education because of financial or personal challenges not to give up on their academic ambitions.

“Even if you dropped out because of some challenges, it’s something you can always go back to. School is always there,” he added.

Although Osimhen did not disclose when he plans to enrol at a university or the course he intends to study, his remarks have attracted widespread praise from fans, many of whom described his message as a timely reminder that education remains valuable regardless of career success.
