Breaking: Court convicts Nnamdi Kanu on FG’s terrorism charge

The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, on count one of the terrorism charges filed against him by the Federal Government.

Delivering the ruling on Wednesday, Justice James Omotosho held that the prosecution had presented “uncontroverted evidence” showing that Kanu made multiple broadcasts inciting violence and killings in pursuit of his separatist agitation for Biafra.

According to the court, the broadcasts were aimed at provoking unrest, thereby substantiating the allegations contained in the charge.

Details of sentencing and the court’s position on the remaining counts are expected as proceedings continue.
