Senator Nwoko’s family saga: Regina Daniels’ family urged caution

Nicholas Ogunde, Asaba

A family advocate, Ogbuefi Victor Omezi, has appealed to Rita Daniels, the mother of actress Regina Daniels, and other family members to exercise caution over the ongoing rift between their daughter and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

Omezi, in a message from the Diaspora on Thursday, described the situation between the couple as complex, stressing that it raises concerns about personal relationships, public perception, and media responsibility.

He noted that Senator Nwoko’s emphasis on rehabilitating Regina reflects a deep concern for her emotional well-being amid public scrutiny and intense media coverage.

Reacting to claims by Rita Daniels that she financially supported Senator Nwoko’s senatorial campaign, Omezi said such statements complicate matters further, adding that they fuel speculation and expose private family affairs to public criticism.

According to him, the media’s sensational reportage has amplified the issue and distorted facts, turning personal matters into public spectacles that could harm the image of a serving senator.

Omezi said all parties needed to prioritise the well-being of those involved and adopt a constructive, peace-driven approach.

“Given the misinformation being spread and the potential damage to Senator Ned Nwoko’s reputation and office, it is necessary to call Regina Daniels and her mother to order,” he stated.

He described Senator Nwoko as a polygamist who has never been associated with domestic violence and noted that his foundation advocates for women’s dignity and the fight against domestic abuse.

Omezi alleged that Regina and her mother have misrepresented issues to attract sympathy online, citing unverified claims about Regina’s financial support and the tragic death of Nwoko’s son.

“Such unfounded statements are insensitive and defamatory. Blackmail has consequences, and no one is above the law,” he warned.

Omezi further maintained that Senator Nwoko, a successful international lawyer and philanthropist, had built his wealth long before returning to Nigeria, and should not be vilified by those he helped.

He urged Regina and her family to refrain from making inflammatory comments and instead seek a peaceful resolution.

“Too much mud has already been thrown. It will take sincerity and restraint to cleanse the space and restore dignity,” Omezi added.

He appealed to all parties to sheathe their swords and embrace peace, noting that maturity and discretion were crucial in resolving the matter privately.
