Police recover suspected stolen vehicle, firearms, ammunition in A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced the recovery of a suspected stolen vehicle, firearms, and other dangerous items during a late-night operation in Uyo.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the operation took place on Friday, November 7, 2025, around 11:30 p.m., when a surveillance patrol team on routine stop-and-search duty along Mbak Itam III by Nassarawa Market intercepted a black Toyota Camry with number plate LND 360 DC.
The police said the vehicle, occupied by four unidentified individuals, raised suspicion of being stolen. However, on sighting the patrol team, the suspects reportedly abandoned the car and fled into a nearby bush to evade arrest.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of several incriminating items, including: Two locally made pistols; four live cartridges; two Tecno Android phones; one battle axe; one machete; one battery charger; two vehicle number plates marked BKS 705 DD, and two black headgear.

The command stated that the recovered Toyota Camry has been impounded as an exhibit to aid ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, has ordered a discreet investigation to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Azare reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to the police.
