Police nab vandals, recover stolen telecom mast

A patrol team of the Nigeria Police Force intercepted suspected vandals on Tuesday, 2 September 2025, at about 10:40 am, and recovered a telecommunications mast.
DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, stated that based on actionable intelligence, the command dispatched some operatives to Obong Sampson Idiong Drive in Uyo, where a group of individuals were reportedly loading a recently vandalised telecom mast into a truck.
“Upon the arrival of the patrol team, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning a green Isuzu truck with number plate AFG 517 XA.
“Operatives pursued the fleeing individuals, leading to the arrest of one suspect, Amisu Bala, a 30-year-old male. He is currently in custody and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation,” she said.
John added that the truck and the stolen telecom mast were then in the police custody.
According to her, an investigation was underway to uncover all the facts surrounding the crime, noting that efforts were being made to arrest the remaining members of the syndicate.
