Ogun police apprehend two armed robbery suspects during operation

The operatives of the Ogun State police command has arrested two armed robbery suspects at Olambe area of Akute, in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The two suspects, Lukman Olanrewaju, 27 and Shola Alabi, 28, were arrested following a distress call to the DPO of Ajuwon divisional headquarters, SP Andrew Akinseye, around 5.00 pm on Sunday.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said information got to the DPO that a three-man armed robbery gang was operating at Olambe area, and that they had shot a commercial motorcyclist who was later identified as Anas Usman and snatched his motorcycle.

He said: “Upon the distress call, the DPO led his men to the scene, and with collaboration of the So Safe Corps, two members of the gang were subsequently arrested.

“Recovered from them are one cut-to-size locally made gun, two live cartridges and the snatched motorcycle.

“The victim was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment, while effort is on top gear to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.”
