Lawan promises to support football coaches

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, said he would support the training of football coaches for sporting development.
He said this at the closing ceremony of Sardaunan Bade Football Tournament at the Gashua Township Stadium on Saturday.
According to him, the aim of organizing the event was to enhance youth development in addition to providing employment, admission, scholarship, and skill acquisition trainings for youth to become self-reliant and productive citizens in the society.
The Senate President also pledged to upgrade the township stadium across the senatorial zone to a minimum national league standard.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the tournament Mohammed Kalli ‘ACTION’ commended the Senate President for sponsoring the tournament in the zone.
He said eight teams from the six local governments of the Senatorial zone participated in the two weeks competition.
Kalli maintained that one hundred and 76 players benefitted from a set of Jersey and pair of football boots, and more.
He used the occasion and appeal to the Senate President to make the tournament an annual event as well as extend it to cover the sixty political wards of the zone.
While appreciating the Senate President for supporting the sports development, also appealed for the trainings of football coaches at National Sports Institution Sports Abuja especially the coaches that participated in the tournament.
Bade Football Academy took the First Sardaunan Bade Cup after defeating Nguru ‘B’ Football Club. Highlights of the event was the presentation of trophies and prizes to the performing teams and individuals by the Senate Lawan, Football stars Daniel Amokachi and Tijjani Babangida of the former Super Eager among personalities that attended closing ceremony of the tournament.
