Ogun So-Safe arrests 10 for extortion, cultism, robbery

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps codenamed So-Safe Corps, has arrested 10 men for allegedly involved in extortion, cultism and robbery.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

The statement read that due to the deluge of complaints by several communities in the Sango axis reporting different security challenges they have been facing, the State Commander of the So-Safe Corps gave the Zonal Commander of Ado-Odo/Ota Area Command, Assistant Commander Tajudeen Odunmbaku, a marching order to bring normalcy to the communities.

“The patrol team of the corps arrested some of these criminal elements while forcing their victims to extort money from them at Sango garage via Sango under bridge, inward Ijoko road by borehole and Joju bus stop.

“It was so disheartening to see the suspects charging towards their victims who were passersby to extort money from them.

“Two men were arrested at Joju bus stop in the act of extorting innocent victims which has turned to a robbery around 1900hrs and causing serious phobia for the inhabitants,” Ganzallo said in the statement.

Ganzallo explained that two of the suspects Alabi Segun and Wahab Shobayo were caught robbing an innocent boy who was pleading with them to allow him to go, but they refused to free him, and he was robbed of his belongings. But the So-safe intervention saved his life.

Another suspect, Tope Akinola, was caught with a pocketknife.

The commander revealed the total number of suspects arrested for extortion, cultism and robbery was 10, and they are Sunday Olude (22 yrs, m); Sampson Adeoti (25yrs, m); Sunday Oluwaseyi (24yrs, m; Muhammed Danladi (22yrs, m); Wasiu Folarin (21 yrs, m); Tope Akinola (20 yrs, m); Ade Adejare (23yrs, m); Alabi Segun (m) –  (Joju bus stop during the act of Robbery) Wahab Shobayo (m) – (Joju bus stop during the act of Robbery); Bidemi Oyatope (m), and ( Aka Faula)  Eye Confraternity.

Items found with the suspects are charms; pocketknife; and different kinds of Illicit drugs, e.g. Kolos, hemp, ice, and others. Ganzallo concluded that the suspects had been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
