Five OAU undergraduates arrested for protesting assault released

Five undergraduates of the (@OAUniversity) Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, who were arrested for protesting assault on fellow students have been released.
It was learnt that the students were released around 4.16pm following huge condemnation from organisations like African Action Congress #AAC@aacparty and others.
The students were said to have been arrested by the OAU security agents and officers of the Nigeria Police Force (@PoliceNG).
According to viral videos, the students said just now at the OAU Centre for Distance Learning, Moro Campus, Osun State, five students were arrested for protesting assault of a student on Monday by an OAU security officer! #FreeOAU5.
“The school security agents have also injured another student on Tuesday during the protest, as they ran the OAU security van over the injured student and other protesters. #FreeOAU5.
African Action Congress #AAC@aacparty said information reaching them @PoliceNG in connivance with @OAUniversity management have arrested 5 OAU students while protesting an assault unleashed on their fellow student by security operatives of the university. “We demand their immediate release,” the AAC@aacparty said.
While others are also call for the immediate and unconditionally release of the students, saying that peaceful protest isn’t a crime.
There was no response from the officials of the university FB chat with the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Eyitope Ogungbenro Ogunbodede, was not responded to.
Efforts to speak with the Registrar of the university, Mrs M.I. Omosule, proved abortive as her contacts were inaccessible.
