Eno inaugurates 340-capacity ICT Centre

Gov Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has inaugurated a 340-capacity ICT Centre in Etinan built by the Council Chairman, Mr Cletus Ekpo, to empower the youths in the Local Government Area.

Eno, who was represented by his wife, Mrs Patience Eno, commended the local government chairman for his resolve to judiciously invest the resources of the council in the ICT centre to empower the youths.

“Let me appreciate your prudent management of the council funds for using lean resources to establish the ICT Centre.

“I implore the youths and those who will use this ICT centre to own it, guide against destruction or vandalism as it will enhance the economic development of the local government area,” Eno said.

Eno urged others to emulate the council boss as such accomplishments should be celebrated as lasting legacies.

Ekpo in his remarks before the inauguration said the ICT centre would advance knowledge and connect youths globally for economic prosperity.

He said that there was a need for government at all levels to encourage youths to embrace ICT innovation for human capacity development.

The chairman emphasized digital tools’ importance and expressed gratitude towards the governor for his unwavering commitment to rural development.

He added that the 340 computers provided at the centre were linked with an internet facility for efficient service delivery.

In his remarks, the immediate past chairman of the LGA, Mr Kenneth Okon, commended Ekpo for his achievements in the local government area.

He assured that his security outfit, the Ibom Community Watch, would provide security for the ICT centre.

In his remarks, an elder statesman, Mr Sunny Jackson, thanked the governor and the First Lady, for taking the time to inaugurate the project and expressed gratitude to the chairman for leaving a mark in Etinan.

Jackson said that the establishment of the ICT centre is a giant legacy that the administration of Ekpo would be remembered for.

The inauguration was witnessed by dignitaries, including the House of Assembly Member, Mrs Usuak Ekpo-Ufot, the immediate past House member, Mr Aniefiok Akpan and the Attorney General of the State, Mr Essien Ekpo-Udom, among others.
