Ex-Minister of FCT, Ajose-Adeogun dies at 96

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun is dead.

Ajose-Adeogun died on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the age of 96.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by a family member, Oluremi Ajose-Adeogun, who issued a statement on behalf of the grieving family.

In her statement, Oluremi Ajose-Adeogun said, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved patriarch, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, FCIS, CON, JP, to eternal glory.”

Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun’s legacy includes his remarkable tenure as the minister under the administration of General Murtala Mohammed, during which he played a pivotal role in designing the Master Plan of Abuja.

Prior to his appointment as FCT minister, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun served with distinction as a two-term Federal Commissioner for Cooperatives and Supply in August 1975.

He later assumed the role of Federal Commissioner for Special Duties in the Federal Capital Development Authority.

At the time of his passing, Ajose-Adeogun held the esteemed position of Chief of Ita-Aladan, Obun Eko, Isale Eko, in Lagos.

Throughout his illustrious career, the late Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun made significant contributions both in the renowned Shell Petroleum Development Company and in the realms of Manufacturing and Real Estate.

The nation mourns the loss of this exceptional leader and visionary, whose dedicated service and accomplishments will forever be remembered.
