The Chief Imam of Uyo Central Mosque, Alhaji Bello Tahiru, has urged the Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to coexist and live in peace with one another and support the present government to provide dividends of democracy.

Tahiru said this after the Eid-el-Kabir prayers on Wednesday in Uyo to mark the 2023 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

He said that the present government need the support of all Nigerians for development to strive, adding that without peaceful coexistence development will elude Nigeria.

Tahiru urged all Muslim faithful and other religious members to continue to pray for Nigeria and its leaders for wisdom and protection to lead the nation to come out of the present difficulties.

He said that the prayer they offered was signs of sacrifice, obedience and loyalty to the wish of Allah.

“Today is a day of prayer and we have used the opportunity to pray for our leaders both at the State and Federal Government of the country.

“Our country is passing through a difficult and trial period. Our leaders need the wisdom to rule us well and ensure peace across the country, we used today’s opportunity to pray so that Allah will bring peace.

“We pray for our leaders, that Allah gives them the wisdom to lead this country aright. We pray to Allah to grant us peace and unity because, without peace and unity, there will be no progress.

“With peace and unity, we will be able to go on with our businesses. We pray God to bind us together as one nation,” Tahiru said.

Tahiru urged the Muslim faithful to respect constituted authority, respect the authority of the host community and stay in peace.

Also speaking, the Head of the Hausa Community in Akwa Ibom, Alhaji Hassan Sadauki, called on all Muslims to remain faithful and live in peace with their neighbour.

Sadauki urged the people to continue to pray for the leaders for wisdom to lead the country so that they could provide for the citizens.
