LASTMA warns motorists ahead of festive period

Ahead of the Salah celebration, the General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), Mr Bolaji Oreagba, has asked motorists to ensure the safety of their vehicles’ tyres before driving such vehicles on the roads.
Speaking at the Headquarters of Lagos State Traffic Management Agency in Oshodi Lagos recently, Oreagba urged drivers to consult the vehicle manufacturer’s specification sticker, adding that there is a need for drivers to carry out a routine inspection of their tyres.
According to him, the event was part of the festive period enlightenment campaign efforts being organised by LASTMA, while calling on motorists to avoid excess speed, respect other road users by ensuring that they do not buy fairly used tyres, which may put the lives of other road users in jeopardy.
“They should always look at the manufacturing date of their tyres because a tyre expires after four years. We have been going to churches, mosques and motor parks to sensitise them on these.
“They are more conscious now. We are also trying to check their blood and sugar levels. We are hoping that with this sensitisation, accidents will be reduced to the barest minimum.”
