Man hacks father to death, buries corpse

One Johnson Ogbu has allegedly hacked his 64-year-old father, William Ogbu to death with an axe Aji Community in Igbo Ezd North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Johnson, who was arrested by the operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, was said to be mentally sick a few years back but was treated and later became a shoemaker. Johnson, one of the five children of the deceased, was said to live with his parents in their home in Umuidenyi.
It was gathered that on the fateful day, Johnson’s mother left home to join other villagers to celebrate the Umuidenyi clan day at the Umuidenyi Town Hall.
According to a source, it was her absence that the suspect emboldened him to break his father’s skull with an axe. He was said to have dragged his father’s body to a nearby plantain plantation and dug the ground, where he buried the remains of his father.
It was gathered that when his mother returned home and asked him of his father, he told the woman that his father was unwell and had gone to see a doctor, but he did not disclose a particular the clinic where he said the man had gone to receive treatment.
“We looked for him for three days, combing all the hospitals around. It was when we failed to locate him that we alerted the members of the Aji Neighbourhood Watch Group, which in turn alerted the police.
“The police arrived on Friday morning alongside members of the neighbourhood watch and later found a shallow grave near the compound, where William was buried in a standing position.”
According to her, her son used an axe to break her husband’s skull, adding that he also used another sharp object to open the man’s belly and punctured other parts of his internal organs.
