60 bandits storm Emir of Kagara’s palace, locals flee homes
Sixty suspected bandits allegedly invaded the palace of the Emir of Kagara on Tuesday evening, shooting randomly as they approached the community on about 20 motorbikes.
Kagara is in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to The PUNCH, sources from the town said it was the community’s market day. On seeing the rampaging bandits, the traders abandoned their goods and ran for their lives.
Many houses in Kagara are also said to be under lock and key now.
Eyewitnesses said the bandits came through Attahiru Primary School towards Madaka Road leading to the bush where they abducted the students of Kagara Islamic school some months ago.
It was gathered that the Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Ahmed Attahiru, has been away for almost two weeks.
Locals are lamenting poor network service in the community, thereby making it difficult for them to reach out to people outside the town.
The Chairman of Rafi Local Government Council, Alhaji Ismaila Danmodibo, could not be reached for comment on the attack as his mobile number was not available.
Efforts to also confirm the incident from Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, were unsuccessful as his mobile line was unavailable.
