2023: CP Durosinmi refurbish eight Hilux vehicles in A’Ibom

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, Olatoye Durosinmi has refurbished eight operational Hilux Vehicles for the forthcoming general elections.

The CP said the refurbished vehicles abandoned over the years were in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Government and some public-spirited individuals who contributed some of the vehicle’s parts.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon said the refurbished vehicles will enhance security during the 2023 general elections and effective policing in the state through increased quick response to distress calls and visibility

A statement signed by the PPRO and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Tuesday noted that the vehicles were commissioned by the Special Adviser on Security to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Fubara Duke.

“The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, CP OLATOYE DUROSINMI in preparation for a successful 2023 General Elections and effective policing of Akwa Ibom State thereafter has rejigged the security architecture of the State Police Command by refurbishing eight (8) operational Hilux Vehicles which were bad and abandoned over the years.

“The successful refurbishing of the said vehicles was made possible through the personal effort of the CP, financial assistance from the Akwa Ibom State Government and some public-spirited individuals who made various donations of vehicle parts.

“The CP noted that the injection of the newly refurbished vehicles was timely as it will enhance security during the 2023 General Elections and for effective policing of the State via increased quick response to distress calls and visibility policing,” he stated.

While commissioning the vehicles, Special Adviser on Security to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Mr Fubara Duke, described the CP as a rare breed and commended him for demonstrating competence and capacity in the area of maintenance culture, adding that it was lacking in Nigeria’s polity.

Duke charged the policemen who would use the vehicles to make judicious use of them for the good of Akwa Ibom State.
