WEF appoints Andrew Banigo to oversee its Nigerian region

A World Economic Forum (WEF) group, Global Shapers has appointed Andrew Banigo, a youth from Rivers, as the Community Manager for the Nigerian region of the international body.

The appointment was announced in a letter by Natalie Pierce, Head of the Global Shapers Community of the Switzerland-based WEF.

Banigo, an alumnus of the University of Port Harcourt, brings on board his wealth of experience in youth activism, social advocacy and leadership.

According to the announcement, before assuming this role, Banigo served in various roles, including as the Curator of the Port-Harcourt Hub, leaving an exceptional track record.

He is presently an Advocacy Coordinator at the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), and the Project Coordinator of NDLink, a prominent digital platform for development stakeholders in the Niger Delta.

“Banigo’s consistent display of exemplary leadership, innovation and dedication in various development initiatives globally and nationally has earned him this prestigious role.

“With his deep-rooted passion for community development and advocacy, Banigo is poised to make a lasting impact as the Community Manager for the Nigerian region.

In his new role as the Community Manager, Banigo will spearhead initiatives that will foster collaboration, drive innovation, and cultivate leadership skills among the 17 Hubs and community members in the Nigerian region.

“His role will involve nurturing a vibrant and inclusive community of young leaders who are committed to effecting positive change in their respective fields,” Global Shapers stated.

Through strategic partnerships and engaging programs, Banigo will strengthen the Global Shapers Community in Nigeria, ensuring its growth and impact continue to flourish.

Banigo’s appointment is not only a personal achievement but also a remarkable win for Rivers State and the entire Niger Delta region.

It underscores the exceptional talent and leadership potential that exists within the state, reaffirming its status as a breeding ground for young visionaries.
