Teenagers shoot doctor dead at Delhi hospital

In Southeast Delhi’s Nima Hospital, Jaitpur, two men shot dead Dr. Javed Akhtar inside his cabin after receiving treatment for an injury. The suspects had initially visited the hospital seeking medical help. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage to identify the assailants responsible for the murder, according to Delhi Police and news agency ANI.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, a Unani practitioner named Javed Akhtar was shot dead inside a nursing home located in the Kalindi Kunj area of southeast Delhi.

The police reported that the suspects, who seemed to be juveniles, entered the facility seeking treatment and shot Akhtar around 1.45 am.

A police officer stated that Akhtar was discovered in a chair, bleeding profusely from a head wound.

Investigation revealed the potential involvement of two boys, approximately 16 years old, who had visited the small, three-bed Nima Hospital around 1 am for a dressing.

It was also discovered that one of the boys, who had a bandaged toe, had been to the hospital the previous day as well.

After receiving the dressing, the two boys entered Akhtar’s cabin. Shortly after, night nursing staff members Gajala Parveen and Mohammad Kamil heard a gunshot. Parveen rushed to the cabin and found Akhtar sitting motionless in a pool of blood.

The police officer indicated that the incident appeared to be a targeted killing, given its unprovoked nature and the apparent involvement of reconnaissance.

Authorities are currently examining footage from CCTV cameras installed in the facility’s reception area, dressing room, and gallery to gather more information about the crime.
