A seven-storey building located at Banana Island, Lagos State, collapsed on Wednesday evening. The collapsed building is said to be an unapproved 7-floor edifice that was under construction.
Deputy Director, Public Affairs, LASEMA, Mukaila Sanusi, stated that few people who sustained injuries were being treated. He added that there was no fatality.
According to him, the incident occurred while casting was being done.
He informed that Lagos State Government has begun an investigation into the cause of the collapsed building.
He said: “An unapproved 7-floor building under construction has collapsed in Banana Island, Lagos State, this evening.
“Few who sustained injuries are being treated. There is no fatality. This unfortunate incident happened while casting was being done.”
Sanusi added that the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Tayo Bamgbose-Martins rushed to the site to assess the situation and flag off the investigation.
“We ask members of the public to remain calm and expect further information from the ministry,” he said.
