A rights activist and politician, Ayomipe Jatto, has praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for banning commercial motorcycles (Okada) in four more local government areas and five local council development areas.
According to Jatto, the ban is the greatest step to reducing crime and thanked the governor for enforcing the ban stating. He added, “The ban gave us a safer environment.”
The activist said the step was the biggest political risk and courage, noting that when the governor’s predecessors knew what it might cost them politically, they jettisoned the idea.
“This bold step by the Sanwo-Olu administration is giving us the Lagos of our dream, a crime-free and noise-free Lagos,” he said.
Jatto also urged the Sanwo-Olu administration to create employment opportunities for legitimate Okada riders in alternative Lagos State transport systems like Lag-ride, BRT and the newly introduced railway system.
