The Akwa Ibom State Government has annulled outdoor advertising installations over non-compliance with the revised guidelines.
The Commissioner of Environment and Solid Minerals, Mr Charles Udoh stated that the revocation was with immediate effect as the January 6, 2021, revised guidelines were not followed.
The commissioner directed owners of outdoor advertising structures to remove them within 7 days of the announcement made through a press release in Uyo on Wednesday, to avoid being blacklisted.
“Following the spate of non-compliance with the Revised Guidelines on Outdoor Advertising in Akwa Ibom state issued on January 6, 2021, by the Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals, all approvals for Outdoor Advertising installations are hereby revoked with immediate effect.
“Owners of Outdoor Advertising structures are advised to vacate such structures within 7- days of this announcement. The directives include structures under construction.
“After the expiration of the notice, structures will be removed by the ministry and owners of such structures will be blacklisted. New guidelines be issued in due course. Members of the public and advertising practitioners are pleased enjoined to take note,” he stated.
